General TankingTanking is a process of hugging, praying and eating to extend your life during a war in order for ur clan members to have more chances of winning a war.
In order to tank effectively, you need to make full use of praying and eating.
The term hugging may be less familiar. Hugging is running around obstacles in an attempt to get an attacker stuck behind the obstacle. Dragging is making a run, usually after a hug, to gain ground on your attackers.
These two abilities become essential in successful tanking
Helmet: Rune Full Helmet / Bucket Helm / Rune Med Helmet
Cape: Team Cape / Skill Cape
Amulet: Amulet of Power/ Amulet of Defence / Amulet of Magic / Amulet of Strength ( No P2P Amulets )
Weapon: Talisman Staff / Elemental or Magic Staff / Rune Mace
Chest: Rune Platebody / Rune Chainbody
Shield: Rune Berserker Shield / Rune Kiteshield / Rune Square shield
Legs: Rune Plateskirt / Rune Platelegs
Gloves: Green Dragonhide Vambraces / Charged Rune Gauntlets / Runecrafting Gloves
Boots: Fighter Boots / Fancy Boots / Leather Boots
Ring: Explorer Ring
A staff gives a magic bonus which will make more binds splash. A rune mace gives prayer bonus so your prayer will last longer. Note that a talisman staff gives more magic bonuses than a normal elemental or magic staff. The Amulet of Magic and Runecrafting Gloves are recommended if you are binding.
Your inventory will vary depending on your role you in the war. Always ensure you have food you can use with confidence.
- Anchovy Pizzas or Swordfish are recommended. ( Lobster are the minimum req for attending a war )
- Pizzas heal 9 each bite for a total of 18 per pizza.
- Swordfish heal 14 in one bite
- It is recommended to bring mostly pizzas with a few swordfish for emergencies.
- Green Dragonhide body are optional but are not recommended for beginners.
There are no stat req for tanking. But in order to tank better against high level clans, there are some stats you should achieve before attempting to tank.
- 40+ Defence - Rune Armor
- 43+ Prayer - Protect from Melee
- High Mage - Recommended to make more binds splash on you.
- 40+ Range - For tanking with Green Dragonhide.
- Once you are piled put on protect from melee
- Pray Steel skin in big wars or if you're of a low defence level.
- Find the nearest hug
- Put on rune armor
- Always try to keep your Hp above half. The higher the better.
Green Dragonhide and Pray Switching
Some people use Green Dragonhide and Protect from Magic prayer switching in order to make more binds splash on them.
The trick is to wear armor and have melee pray on when you're being attacked by a lot of people. Then right after you make a hug and start a drag you switch to Green Dragonhide and magic prayer. ( Recommended to change to dhide when u are at least one wall apart from the attackers.)
Do not always wear dhide or use magic prayer.
Note that tanking with Green Dragonhide does require some practice and probably should not be attempted by beginners
Food TricksThere are two main tricks to eating and they are quite simple to learn.
Pizza Trick- Click as many whole pizzas as you can in as little time as you can (best done going down rows or columns) and you will eat several bites at once.
Swordfish Trick- Click a pizza bite and quickly click a swordfish and you will eat both at once healing 23.
Binding in WarsBinding in a Clan Fight:
The 3 guidelines when binding in a Clan War:
-Take your Rune Amour off (Get ready to bind) when following a Fall in Leader
-Keep Rune off if you can stay hidden in the Team X Pile
-Put Rune on (Don't bind) when you are in the Open (visible to opponents)
How the Method will usually work:
1. Fall In on a Leader that has "X in" Called, Usually standing next to a finished Pile
2. Put your Run on,This is so you will stay hidden underneath the Team X Member rather than trailing behind in the open.
3. Get ready to bind (Example: take Rune off) -> Click Follow Leader again
4. Click Bind icon and get ready to bind the Target called by the Leader
5. Bind then right click - Attack that Target
6. Keep clicking Bind and then Attack on the Target Remember
only cast another bind around 1-2 Seconds after the Target has begun
running again (because they are immune) Clicking attack after your
Bind allows you to stay hidden within the Team X Pile
7. If the Target is killed, and "X In" is called Follow the
Leader, keep your Rune Off No need to put Rune on because you hidden
within Team X Members
Additional Notes for Experienced Binders:
When
following a Leader (searching for a pile), cast Binds on opponents
standing in the open - Leaders will see the bind and target the person
you binded for an instant KO because they cannot move.
When a Target is dead, bind opponents in the surrounding area because chances are the pile will switch to them.
If your pile is close to another Team X pile, bind the Target in the other
pile as well because you can only bind the same person every 5 Seconds,
giving you time to Bind both. Try to keep hidden in the pile as usual.
The Role of a SniperA sniper is someone who snipes binders, callers and fall-in leaders. (Try to use a baxe, and the "smash" style as full rune has the least def bonus against crush.)
A sniper should have:
A good tanking ability, snipers do get piled and when they do they are going to need to tank. (High Defence, Prayer and Magic levels are all recommended.)
A High Combat level, with a high defence level, so that having a pile called on them is less likely.
Good Communication Skills, if you’ve sniped someone for almost all of their food but are unable to finish them off, you should tell a fall-in leader in clan chat.
Note that if a clan has a good anti snipe unit and you getting more damage done
to you then what you're doing then you back off for the time being. If you’re sniping someone of a higher combat level than you, he or she may tend to drop out of pile to hit back at you, at this point of time, usually using the Protect from Melee prayer on will make him or her stop hitting on you and drop back into pile.
Anti-Sniping
All it takes is 2 to 4 people to drop back while someone is sniping. Keep
hitting the sniper till they go away and either move onto the next sniper or return to the main pile. A special group of people is not required to perform this task. Just make sure there are a handful of people to turn around and hit them a few times.
The first thing you need to do when being sniped or piled is put your rune on and if its more then 2 or 3 snipers and they're damaging you then you toggle on the Protect from Melee prayer. It is also very helpful to say in Clan Chat that you need help with snipers so the leaders can help identify who is sniping for the opposing clan.
Also save up to 30% run energy at least at all times. This ensures that you can actually run rather than get instantly KOed when being piled.
If the warlords and leaders notice that u have armour or invents that does not meet req, You will be asked to not participate in that war.Hope u learned something from this guide.
